How to make a receipt
- Enter your name or business name and contact details. The issuer's name is required: the receipt must show who received the money.
- Add the customer's name if you know it.
- List what was paid for, with quantity, price and tax.
- Enter the payment date and method, such as cash, card or bank transfer.
- Download the PDF and give it to your customer.
Receipt or invoice?
An invoice asks for payment. A receipt confirms that payment has been made. If your customer needs a tax invoice to reclaim VAT or GST, a receipt may not be enough; check what to include on an invoice for your country.
Use receipts honestly
A receipt made with BillCrisp is a document you issue yourself. It does not replace the original receipt from the business that sold the goods, and it must not be used to back up an expense or refund claim for a purchase you did not make. Misuse can be a criminal offence.
Frequently asked questions
Can I record a partial payment?
Yes. Enter the amount paid; the receipt shows the total, the amount paid and any balance left.
Can I add my logo and signature?
Yes. Both are resized in your browser and embedded in the PDF.
I lost a receipt from a shop. Can I recreate it here?
No. Ask the shop for a copy or use your bank or card statement. BillCrisp is for receipts you issue for money you received.
